Kim Neale

South Wales TRF – Group Secretary

I don’t usually like telling people about myself but I do love talking about the TRF, its members and what we get up to!… so just a few quick things about me and my passions outside of bikes… in,
out, nobody gets hurt.

I have always been an outdoors person. I have owned or ridden horses most of my life, eventually two wheels took over from four hooves. When I’m unable to do anything bike related, I bake extravagant cakes, tend to my garden (I am also a secret houseplant killer) or I just hug my chickens.

It all started with Junior Kickstart for me, my cousin collected Cabbage Patch Dolls, I hoped that her older brother didn’t notice my collection of motorbike pictures I “borrowed” out of his magazines. It was inevitable I ended up with my road license, I’ve ridden road bikes for 20 years, taking a break when kids and career were priority. My first road bike was an Aprilia RS250, when that wasn’t fast enough (quite quickly!) many more sports bikes followed.
Bikes are great but something was missing, my bike mojo had gone… following my first mid-life crisis which manifested itself as an MT10, a fortunate cancellation due to covid saw me at the Yamaha off road centre tackling the trails with the Jones family…. Bang! That’s when it happened, the spark that was missing was instantly ignited on top of a wr250 somewhere in mid Wales! All of a sudden, my non work life was back on ‘track’. A friend mentioned the TRF to me as a great way to start getting onto the trails. Being female, novice and no spring chicken I was apprehensive about how I would fit in, I needn’t have worried! It has been the most supportive, knowledgeable, friendly and fun group of people to be around. So, along came mid-life crisis number 2, my very own lovely shiny blue WR250. I’ve now been a member for 2 years. I have taken on the role of Secretary; I hope to help support the running of the SWTRF and start putting something back into the group.
Since joining I’ve seen the groups size steadily increase, I aim to help support this continued growth and spread the good word and encourage the people who don’t think they would fit in to just do it.

If you have a passion for two wheels, travel, the outdoors, cake and have a sense of humour you’ve come to the right place!
