SWTRF Chairman

A very good friend of mine now passed (David Cowling) first mentioned in 2001 about Green Laning and how much fun it was, but I never listened as I was too much into the road bikes back then. In 2019 his Brother (Paul Cowling) showed me his Husaberg TE300 and I fell in love with it. After some discussion of “I want I want” he sold it to me, & that is where my TRF story begins.
In the Garage @ home I currently had a KTM 690 SMCR & a Ducati Monster 900. So, squeezing another bike into the toy shop was going to be a struggle. All 3 fitted snuggly but the Red of the Monster just didn’t sit well with the Orange & White bikes so it had to go. So as if by magic it turned into a Husqvarna FE250 and they all fitted in as good friends. After nearly 2 years with the FE250 I got that itching only bikers get with having to change again. So, the KTM and the FE250 went in and a FE350 came out.
Current bikes are FE350, Husaberg TE300 & Beta Rev 3 250 Trials, like women with shoes you can never have enough bikes!
I have been a member of the TRF for 3 years and recently taken up the role of Chairman of SWTRF. My First meeting with SWTRF in the previous venue brought me together with like-minded folk with a passion for bikes. Adventure bikes, Trail bikes, Trial bikes and road bikes, what more could you want. As time went on I advanced to route plotting & eventually leading rides. From then to now, the monthly rides have gone up exponentially to more in one week than what was done in months. All thanks to the members and Group Officers commitment.
I have worked on the Railway in various roles and currently with a Freight Company as one of their Driver Trainers.
If you are thinking of joining the TRF/SWTRF bring with you a sense of humour and a willingness to assist on rides, as when you get stuck someone will help you and then you do the same! TRF – Trail Riders Fellowship. Some of the finest people you could wish to meet.
If you want to ride and enjoy the Green Lanes the TRF is for you. If you want to race about like on an Enduro track the TRF is not for you.
